7 Signs You Need To Call a Plumber Right Away

The plumbing in your house is not something you want to take chances with. If you do, it could end up costing you a lot more than just the cost of plumbing repairs. If you notice any of the following problems, it’s important to call a plumber immediately.

1. Your Toilet Is Running Constantly

This is often one of the most ignored signs that there is an issue with your plumbing. If your toilet is constantly running, it can waste hundreds of gallons of water each day and end up costing you a lot in your monthly water bill. It also means that something isn’t right with either part of or underneath your toilet.

2. Leaks Around the Base of Your Faucet

A small drip from any faucet in your home can end up causing quite a few problems if left for too long. This is because it will eventually eat through your flooring and leave behind an expensive repair bill when the time comes to replace it. It’s best to get this fixed by a plumber right away before you’re dealing with even bigger leaks that could cost you even more.

3. Your Toilet Is Leaking Around the Base

A leak from any toilet in your home can be very damaging, but one around the toilet’s base is especially so. One of the most common issues is a crack in the porcelain near the bottom of the bowl. If left untreated, this sort of cracking can lead to the entire floor giving way. Because of this, it’s best to get your leak checked out by a plumber right away.

4. There’s a Strong, Fishy Smell Coming from Your Sink

A sink in your home should never smell bad. If there is a strong, fishy smell coming from it, this often means you have an issue with your drainage system. It may be that your drain is completely blocked or gunk is stuck between it and the main sewage pipe in your home. Either way, if you’re dealing with a smelly sink inside of your home, call a plumber right away before things get worse.

5. Your Water Pressure Is Low or Inconsistent

If your water pressure has dropped off lately, this could indicate several problems with either one portion of or all of your plumbing system. One possibility is that sediment has built up in some part of the piping and needs to be cleared away by a professional plumber. Another is that your incoming water line is corroded and needs to be replaced. In either case, you need to call a plumber right away if this is happening to you.

6. You’ve Noticed a Slight Color Change in Your Water

If you’re noticing a slight color change in your water, this could indicate one of several things. If it’s just at certain times of the day or night, then there may be an issue with your internal plumbing system or something located on your property that is causing it. If you feel as though you have to run the cold tap for a long time before the water turns clear again, however, this likely means you have a blockage somewhere and need to call a plumber right away.

7. You Notice Stains on Walls Near Where Your Plumbing Is Located

If you notice stains on your walls, this could indicate a leak of some sort or that there is excess water pressure somewhere in your plumbing system. This can be caused by sediment buildup as well. In either case, it’s best to call a plumber right away so they can come out and take a look at the issue before it gets worse.
